They say you learn something everyday.  Well, today I learned that my 2 1/2 year old daughter wants to learn how to read!  She has known her alphabet and what they say for some time now, but I never thought of trying to teach her to read yet as I thought she was to young yet.

Today she came up to me with her doodle pad wanting to play word game.  I wasn’t sure what she was talking about so I asked her if she wanted to learn to write letters or if she wanted to learn to read and she said she wanted to learn to read!

So we sat down on my bed and I wrote out some easy words like Cat, Hat, Mom, Top, Stop and she was sounding them out perfect, but just couldn’t get the hang of putting hearing the sounds she was saying and hearing what word it was. 

I’m thinking it will just be a matter of time it will all click and my little girl will be on her way to reading!  All I know is I better take advantage of her wanting to learn to read so everyday now I’m going to be putting time aside to work on it with her.  I’ll keep you posted!
