Listerine Oral Challenge
Thanks to Mom Central, I was able to sign up for the Listerine Oral Challenge and was never so happy to hear we were one of the chosen ones. Not just because tis the season when the kids eat more junk food than they normally do, but also because you could call me one of those bad mom’s who actually forgets to remind the kids to brush their teeth. After fighting them to go to bed and not hearing anything so I can sit on the couch and relax is when I tend to remember I forgot to have them brush there teeth and that’s when the good and bad angel pop out and the good angel will say “you better make sure they brush their teeth so they don’t get any more cavities” while the bad angel says “do you really feel like getting them up and fighting with them all over again to go to bed… you just got them all relaxed and they are just about asleep.. what’s one more day?”. I am embarrassed to say that most of the time the bad angel ended up winning.
After starting this Listerine Oral Challenge two weeks ago, I can honestly say that doesn’t happen anymore because the kids are actually fighting over who gets to brush their teeth first! It amazing how one day the kids would fight me on brushing their teeth to the next day when they are fighting over who gets to brush their teeth first.
Out of all the products we tried (Adult mouthwash, and the Reach Floss & Reach Access Flosser) the top two products (besides the floss) would have to be the products for the kids. Maybe that’s because due to those products Kevin is having fun now brushing his teeth, which then makes Katie want to brush her teeth more!
For Kevin I know a lot has to do with him using Listerine’s Agent Cool Blue. The Listerine’s Agent Cool Blue is actually a pre-brush tinting rinse. I’ll warn you.. I wish it wasn’t quite so blue as I always worried it would stain his clothes if it got on them or the counter & sink, but so far so good. What you do is have your child (it’s suppose to be for 6 or older, but I did have Kevin do it since he is a month shy of being 6) swish some in their mouth BEFORE brushing their teeth. What it does is turns their teeth blue, so when they brush their teeth they can see where they missed and every time they spit in the sink more blue will appear. There are two different flavor’s (Glacier Mint or Bubble Blast) and Kevin has been using the Bubble Blast. I actually used it one night too and can say it was quite interesting.
Kevin also was able to try (along with me as I wanted to see what it was like) the Listerine Smart Rinse, which is an anticavity mouthwash for kids (6 & older) that is suppose to attract particles that was missed when brushing your teeth. Once again there are 2 flavors, Mint Shield or Berry Shield and once again we chose to try the Berry Shield. (I guess you could say we aren’t mint people) The flavor was quite good and there was no nasty aftertaste which was a good thing because nothing is worse than having a mouthwash that stings because at least for a kid there would be no way you would want to use it again. I did notice Kevin having better breath though since starting this challenge, which was a life saver for me since he still will climb into our bed at night.
What was really great for me, was my kids never nap anymore, but since they were both quite grumpy and getting on each other’s nerves I thought today’s a day I’m going to make them nap. As I got Katie in her bed, the first thing out of her mouth is “I forgot to brush my teeth!” Because of that alone I would love to thank Mom Central, Listerine and Reach for letting us partake in their Oral Challenge! I’m actually looking forward to their next dentist appointment to see how better their teeth are looking!
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Listerine and Reach and received Listerine and Reach products for the Oral Care Challenge and a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.
