DCI Kalamazoo!
Last night had to of been one of the best dates Paul and I have ever gone on in the whole 13 years we have been together. Last night
we ended up driving down to Kalamazoo to watch a Drum Corp competition at WMU! I had a friend who was in drum corp 17 years ago (Yikes.. has it really been that long?) so I know what to expect, but Paul had no clue until he heard Madison Scouts bring it to the table! He was just in awe and couldn’t wait until after intermission to hear the rest of the corps play.

While I was having the time of my life, I was never so grateful to have an intermission as while it was a beautiful day, the 85 degree weather with no clouds and very little wind, sitting in the stands made it a tad on the HOT side where I was dying to get in some shade and drink some water. After cooling off a little I went back and sat down and while talking with Paul we felt so sorry for the corp members to be out there in the hot sun wearing their full gear, marching (even running, doing push ups, and squats). I can’t help but think that doing that all summer long would have to be a great weight loss/ lower ab workout if I had ever seen any.
If you have never been to a DCI Competition you really have no clue what you are missing! I know
most of you have been to high school football games and you are probably thinking it’s a lot like a high school marching band, but honestly they don’t come close to being anything like a drum corp. It’s like saying a Moped is a Harley Davidson. There is just no comparison. I wish I could of video taped some of it for you last night, but the rules are no video taping so I didn’t dare. But if you YouTube DCI, you will some what get an idea of what it’s like, even though it’s 10 times better in person! So until then, here are some more pictures from last night. I hope you enjoy them, because I sure do!
Is it a sign?
Do you believe in signs? No, not stop signs, or yield signs, but signs like you’re debating on switching martial arts schools to have your Dad end up running into the owner of the place you were considering and ended up getting a buy a month get a month free coupon. Now to me that was a sign!
Today I have a feeling I am having another sign about something. Just the other day I thought I should one of my exercise videos that kicks my butt and to me is one of the best fat burning exercise DVD’s. Then today I ended up having 2 of my friends on facebook said something about that exact dvd! Maybe it’s time to dust it off and put it in the DVD player and watch my tears start coming down my face again. (You know how tough Jillian is on tv, that’s how she is on the DVD too!)
Tried & True Tuesday ~ Pizza Buns
As you can read from my previous posts we didn’t have the best of weekends due to Kevin’s strep throat. Sunday night he actually wanted pizza, but I knew there was no way he could eat something like that as putting a popsicle up to his lips would make him hurt. So I looked to see what we had in the house and make some personal pizza’s by taking some buns and putting pizza sauce & mozzarella cheese on them. I was right.. Kevin couldn’t eat them, but Katie did and like them. Then yesterday Kevin started eating again and requested I make the pizza sandwich again so I did and he loved it too! So since I got 2 thumbs up I thought I would post it here in case your little ones are wanting pizza and you don’t have that in the house to make…
Ingredients:
- Package of hamburger buns (hot dog would work too)
- Pizza Sauce
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Whatever other toppings you would like.. we ended up putting 2 pieces of Pepperoni on each one last night
Directions:
- Put some sauce on each bun and then top with your toppings
- Place them in the oven and bake until cheese is melted. (I had the oven set at 350 degrees)
- enjoy!
All Natural
Taking medicine always worries me as I can’t help but think of what chemicals I am now putting into my body, but when I’m sick and feel like I could die I usually don’t care as I just want to feel better. But when it comes to other things like for example trying to get rid of nasty ol’ acne I would rather try something like pronexin which is suppose to be all natural and can clear up some acne in 72 hours! I just love finding the all natural products that can work just as fast as the kind with all the chemicals.
Food & Holidays
Why does it seem that when a holiday comes, please tend to over eat? Let’s start with New Years, while we might not actually eat a lot, people do drink a lot that night (or should I say the night before)… then you have Valentines day where you tend to go out to eat and buy chocolates. July 4th is usually spent grilling and eating hamburgers, chips, potato salad, baked beans, and can you say CANDY thanks to the parades? Halloween equals more candy, Thanksgiving equals big turkey dinners and Christmas equals tons of parties and you know there is always food involved there as well.
I always wonder if the diet supplement or exercise companies tend to find an increase in sales after the holidays? I can’t help but think people probably google things like hcg diet plan, Atkins diet or best exercise equipment after they spend a holiday gorging.
Straight out of the Camera Sunday ~ Misc from this week
While looking for a Sunday Meme to do.. I ended up coming across Straight Out Of the Camera from Murrieta 365. It’s actually quite fun because it’s another picture meme where you can show off what pictures you have taken. The only thing is you can’t do any tweaking or altering, but that’s ok with me as I usually don’t do that anyways.
I ended up getting a new camera this week and have had so much fun taking pictures with it, I hope you don’t mind that I have more than 2 picture.
I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!!
Back to old habits
Why is it so easy to fall back into your old bad habits? Last year Paul ended up going to the doctor and had his blood drawn to see if there was anything that was causing him to be tired all the time. The doctor informed him that he needed to start eating better by eating more fiber among other things. I was so proud of how he started switching his ways, but all of a sudden I’m catching him stopping at the grocery store on the way home from work with foods he doesn’t need. (like cookies, chips, pop.. etc) Since he isn’t eating the way he is I’m wondering if I should find what the best multivitamin for men is and someone get him to start taking that. Maybe he will once again start feeling better and won’t be dealing with insomnia again since I know last time he was like this his B12 levels were low. Now how do you get a stubborn man to take something that would be “healthy” for you?
