As I sit here looking at my engagement ring that Paul gave me 10 years ago I can’t help but think how stressful buying a ring for the girl you love must be.   I know some guys want to totally surprise their girl so finding out what kind of taste their girl has in diamonds must be tough.  Paul ended up taking me ring shopping so I could show him what I liked. 

After he knew I liked the basic solitaire ring the other hard part came, how big of a diamond to buy?   I had told him I wanted nothing big as I don’t want to worry about it when working in the yard, doing dishes or even when I’m out shopping.  (If someone sees a big rock on your hand, are they more likely to rob you?)   Then not only do you have to figure out what size diamond to buy, but then you also have to figure out where to buy it.   Do you buy one from a dealer who sells wholesale diamonds?  Or do you go to one of the jewelry stores in the mall or even a mom & pop jewelry store?

As you can see, to me buying that engagement ring would be a little to stressful for me.. therefore I’m so glad I’m not a guy.  ~wink~

Those that know me, know I’m not the biggest jewelry person out there.  The only thing I wear jewelry wise is my wedding & engagement ring.  Other than that the only time I wear anything else is when I’m going some place nice and then it’s just a necklace.  I used to wear ear rings, but since I haven’t worn them in years (yes years) my holes have already closed up. 

While I’m not a big jewelry fan I don’t mind looking at the cheap jewelry stores at the mall.  (No need paying big money for them if I’m not really going to use them)   What’s fun though is looking at the home made jewelry at the arts & craft sales.  It seems like quite a few people are making bracelet’s out of beads and necklaces, rings or bracelets out of glass tile. If I was to buy a necklace I’m thinking the glass tile might be a great way to go as you can add some nice color.
