I have three friends (neighbor, friends 6 yr old son and another friends wife) who are all battling cancer right now. Two of them are battling brain cancer I don’t remember where the friends wife’s cancer started, but it is now in her blood stream. 

We had thought my neighbor was doing good until this week when they found another pea size spot on her brain and it looks as if it’s a regrowth of the tumor since it’s in the same spot.  They are now at the hospital waiting to hear back from Duke University as to what the next course of action will be.   She is 40 years old and has a girl going into 3rd grade and a son going into Kindergarten.  I just pray that the doctors can once again be able to remove it and that this time it doesn’t come back.  All I know is she is willing to do the best, most effective, most aggressive treatment available so she can kick this cancer’s butt.

Then there is our friends son who is also battling brain cancer.  Last week his counts once again went low and ended up getting another blood transfusion.  Then a couple days ago he ended up getting another high temp so he had to go back in.  It turned out he had a serious infection going on and at one point his temp got up to 104.something.   Thankfully his temp has broke, but with his blood counts still being low and having to get an IV Antibiotic he will be stuck in the hospital for 14 days!  Not what a 6 year old boy wants to hear in the summer.    His doctors have decided that for the remaining chemo treaments for him, they will reduce the chemo he gets by 20% since everytime it’s taking longer and longer for his counts to recover. 

I haven’t heard any new news on our friends wife, but since so much bad news has been going on regarding cancer I’m not sure I dare call to find out.

It just seems like there are more and more younger people I know fighting cancer and unfortunately three of my classmates (I graduated in 92′) have already passed away due to cancer. I’m not sure what kind of cancer they had (mesothelioma or something else) but either way it makes me worry and think when is it going to be my time? I keep thinking why are more and more people getting cancer?  Could it be because of all the chemical’s they put on or in our food? I had heard that MSG and Aspartame actually grows cancer like weeds and if that’s they case why does our government let the food companies put it in our food & drinks? It sure makes me think twice about eating some food and drinking pop!

UPDATE:  I have an update on my neighbor!  I went over at 6:15am today so her husband could get to the hospital and they could hear the results of the MRI from Duke and I guess it’s not a regrowth after all!  They believe it to be scar tissue!  I guess they have been keeping their eye on it the past six months and I guess that kind of cancer grows fast so there should of been a change had it of been cancer!  They still are having a PET scan done and will look at those results, but so far so good!

I swear it’s every girls dream at one point or another to be able to have a horse. I remember growing up, I always wanted a horse. Thankfully I had a friend that lived maybe a mile away that had some and would invite me over to go horseback riding with her. We always had a fun time riding and it seemed like those days we would go out on the horses would always fly by.

My friend Angie never did the Equestrian thing, so at least she didn’t have to buy any equestrian apparel, but I am still friends with her thanks to Facebook and she does to do the Polo thing, so she does have to buy the Polo apparel now. I’m just glad that horses are still a part of her life because I know back when we were little they were her number one love in life.

Now my niece is in love with horses and is in the process of changing her bedroom from butterflies to horses. I guess this summer she will be going to horse camp where they teach young girls all about horses and they work on the farm for the week. All I know is I’m sure it won’t be long until she is begging her parents (like I did) to get a horse. At least for my parents we didn’t have room for one, her parents do!

I had such a great time last night that I can’t wait to do it again!!

Last night we ended up having Paul’s friends over and honestly I didn’t know for sure how it would go as I really don’t talk to the other ladies that much.  They are all career women and I’m the only stay at home mom so I wasn’t sure what all I would have in common with them besides our husbands work together and love to hunt. 

I will admit all week I was stressing out as I’m not the type that likes to entertain because I always worry if people are having  good enough time, plus a couple of them had never been to my house before so I wanted to make sure everything was as close to perfect as I could get with a 2 & 4 yr old.

I’m happpy to say things went quite smoothly and I had a really good time and can’t wait to do it again!  The only problem I now have with having the party last night was Katie got to stay up WAY past her bedtime.  I ended up waking her up for Church this morning and then had her take a nap this afternoon.  (She really doesn’t nap anymore)  She ended up napping for over 2 hrs & I woke her up because I wanted her to sleep tonight.

Well, it’s 11:32pm and she is STILL AWAKE!!!!  I’m going crazy!  I would LOVE to go to bed as the Olympics are done, but can I?  No… because I have a 2 yr old who thinks it’s play time!!   She wants to sleep in my bedroom so I’m caving in tonight in hopes that maybe if I snuggle with her she will finally go to sleep.  Wish me luck!

I know she more than likely won’t get picked, but thought I would still share her audition to see if she can be on Signing Time! (her favorite show)

Now that the weather is warming up some and we will be playing with the kids outside a little more… PLEASE remember to put on sun tan lotion if you’re going to be out in it for a long time!!

Paul’s friend took his 2 boys (5 & 3) ice fishing yesterday and never thought about putting sun tan lotion on the boys. (I probably wouldn’t of either) Both boys ended up with RED faces yesterday and when his friend put Aleo on the oldest the boy cried because it made him hurt worse. So he skipped it on the youngest.  When they woke up today the youngest’s eyes were swollen shut!

The Mom was going to be taking him to the doctor and that’s the last I know… So please don’t forget to use it!! Even though it’s still cold out there they can still get sun burned.

I just got another blog award!!!   WOOHOO!!  I’m doing the dance…

Sarah at Sassyfrazz!!!  Congratulations Sarah!!!  I chose Sarah not just because of her cute background   but because I had read on her blog that as of Feb 25th she had lost a whooping 41 1/2 lbs since September!!  Way to go  Sarah!!  I’m so proud of you!!   After loosing that much I know she is styling in her new clothes!!!   Her blog is another one you those that I visit everyday to see what’s new.. you should go check her out!!

First let me introduce myself to those that don’t know me. My name is Jen and I’m a wife of 7 years to Paul, a Stay at home mom to 4 yr old Kevin and 2 yr old Katie and we live in West Michigan.

Some of the girls on Michigan Mom’s Club kept talking about how they love blogging so after talking with Jodi & Kellie I thought I would give it a try!   That was in October of last year and I’m so glad they talked me into it.  I’m having so much fun doing this and have aleady “met” some new friends and I’m looking forward to meeting some more!!  My blog as of right now is just a little bit of everything… just whatever comes to my head at that moment in time.  I hope you enjoy it and if you have any advice on anything I could do to improve it, please let me know!!
