Most googled?
Since I’m wide awake and everyone is sleeping I thought I would surf the web a little and I don’t know what came over me, but I thought… I wonder if there is a site that will show you what the most googled words are. Parts of me wonders if it will be something I would rather not know like porn? Or will it be something health related like weight loss or best acne pills? Or could it be something more like current events (current as in the last 10 years) like Bush or Obama?
Here I googled most googled words, but I never did find a website that tells me. Do you know of one?
Why can it be so addicting?
Are you facebook at all? If so, do you play any of the games like Farmville, Paradise Island or YoVille? If your answer is yes than I bet you tend to ask the same question as above… why can those silly games be so addicting. Granted, when I play them I’m also watching tv, but to think of the hours I spend plowing, planting and harvesting crops or making my house on YoVille look more like a home buy working at the factory so I can make money and buy things like furniture, clothes, or even patio furniture cushions.
I find it’s not only the young people that are addicted to those games, but older people as well. (Since I’m probably in the older group at the age of 35.. or is that the younger group? Please say younger! LOL) What’s also funny is how you can go to other peoples farms, islands or houses and help them and earn more money that way too so you can once again buy more things.
Working, selling, buying.. I guess it’s kinda like the real world huh? The one good thing about it is if you don’t have the money and you want to buy something, then you can’t buy it! Maybe if the younger crowd continue to play these games they will use that in the real world and there won’t be as many people way in debt. Maybe those games aren’t so bad after all?!?
More testing
It’s amazing how much things can change. Here I thought getting into a college would be the same, but I now found out it’s not. Instead of just needing good grades and doing your ACT & SAT, but now there is also a GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) that I guess is required for admission to get into business school MBA programs!
I can honestly say I never knew to get your MBA you would have to do that too! I wonder if schools have a GMAT prep course they give students now? Can you tell all I ever got was my associates degree?
School Work
Nothing is funner than sorting through boxes and finding some of your high school homework and school projects. That’s actually what happened to me a couple weeks ago. I ended up finding one paper I wrote about how Country Music was becoming popular. That was back in 1992 and I’ll never forget one of the guys in my class saying I was wrong and country music would never be popular. I always wonder if he remembers saying that to me since not only did country music because popular, but to me it keeps getting more popular as years go by! ~grin~
Then there was my project where we had to be a business plan writer. We had to pretend we wanted to start a business and write up a business plan that would would “take to the bank” (turn into the teacher) so we could “get a loan” (grade). I’ll never forget I had wrote about how I would open up a hunting & fishing store in Grandville. Even though I did get a good grade, I seem to remember my teacher thinking that there were already quite a few in the area and that was way before the Gander Mountain opened up. Now they opened a store like I would of wanted to do and look how good they are doing! Of course I would never of been able to of had that much inventory since my store would of been way smaller.
Do you ever look through your old homework/school assignments? If you do, does it bring back lots of memories?
Advertising
I’ve had people ask me before why I blog and if I make any money because of it. The reason I started blogging was due to I thought it would be a little easier to keep family & friends updated as to what we were up to. After blogging for awhile I ended up joining some places where you could get paid to blog, but due to my blog not being that popular I never really got that many jobs.
Maybe if I knew what to write about that would keep people’s attention I would do better, but it seems like I go in spurts way to much. There will be awhile where I do good, to only get busy with the kids and life where I find myself not coming on here and all of a sudden I look and it’s been a week with no posts.
So maybe if I started making sure I set aside a certain part of the day to blog I would do better? Of course I’m wondering if I would have to advertise more like at http://onewaytextlink.com so people would find me that would be better too.
Why did you start blogging? Do you find yourself running out of things to blog about? Do you make money blogging? If so, how did you start doing that? By writing reviews or by selling ad space?
Some days I don’t mind getting junk mail because then I know our mail lady went, but there are other days I just get so sick and tired of seeing the same thing.. insurance companies wanting us to sign up and get some insurance quotes from them (life, health, car, boat.. you name it). The only good thing is I never get the credit card applications anymore! I forgot where I signed up, but there was a certain place you could go and then you wouldn’t get them anymore. Maybe that will be my job for today.. trying to find where that was so you don’t have to get at least those pieces of junk mail.
The only thing is, at least it does give our post office something to do. I never really sent much mail out anyways, just the bills and then come Christmas… Christmas cards. Now it seems like the only time we actually mail something is for Christmas and then maybe here and there a rebate or something of that nature.
How much mail do you mail? How much mail do you receive? Is yours primarily junk mail or do you actually get some good mail? (Not sure which category you would put bills in ~wink~)
Driving at night
I must be getting older as I seem to have a harder time driving at night. I do great when there isn’t anyone on the roads, but as soon as someones coming at me I just seem to get blinded by their headlights. It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of head lights they have, the regular kind or pretty blue kind. (Which I found out are called xenon lights)
I actually do ok until the other car is right by me and then I just get so blinded that I can’t see and I always worry is there a deer that will be jumping out in front of me at that exact same time. Now that deer hunting season is just a few days away (Oct 1st) we really need to keep our eyes out for them little (big) buggers as they can do a LOT of damage to our vehicles.
How’s your night driving? Have you noticed any difference the older you get?
School Photo’s
Tis the time of year when students go back to school and the paperwork comes home letting us know that school pictures are coming up. I knew Kevin was going to be getting his picture taken since he is in Kindergarten, but I never thought about Katie having school pictures done this year too, so when I got the notice about that my first thought was there goes another $27!
Then the big decision came.. since I’m going to be paying for two packages, which one should we go with. Do we try and scale down so I thought maybe I could get us an 8×10, the grandparents a 5×7 and then a year book for both of them. The funny thing is if I did it would actually cost us $2 MORE than if we went with their most popular package which had the 8×10, 2 5×7’s, 4 3×5’s and 20 wallets, plus the yearbook! So needless to say we just went with their popular package instead.
Thankfully we didn’t have to pay extra to have them fix any blemishes, but I’m sure some year we might consider it. Lets see, what would we rather do? Pay to have acne treatments done? Or just have them fix the blemishes in the pictures? Somehow paying the extra to have them fix the blemishes sounds cheaper.
So did your child have their school photo’s taken yet? If so, which way do you take? The cheap way out or the way that you would be able to give all your friends and family pictures?
Motorcycles
When we go south every year I can’t help but notice all the places along the gulf shore that has Motorcycles/mopeds for rent. Thankfully we never go during spring break or summer break when I would assume all the kids would be riding them up and down the coast, but I always wonder how much it must cost for a student (even college) to rent one of them. I can’t imagine how much the stops insurance be even if they do have it in the contract that if something happens it’s not their fault. It just seems all scary to me.
Since I know they carry these shops in Florida & Alabama I just assume they also must carry them in California. I can’t imagine them not having them as you always visualize people in California to be by the ocean in their convertibles, motorcycles, or just carrying their surf boards to the water. I just thought of something… wouldn’t it be kinda funny if say in San Jose there was a San Jose motorcycle accident attorney shop right next door to the Motorcycle Rental shops. I somehow have a feeling the motorcycle shop wouldn’t care for that though as I know if I saw the attorney shop right next door that would send out red flags I better think twice about renting one, unless I already knew how to drive one and had a licence for it. It still would be kinda funny… it’s one of those things you would of seen picture wise when Jay Leno was on the Tonight Show.
Internet
Have you ever really thought about how amazing the Internet is? As I sit here watching tv and surfing the web I can’t help but think how amazing it really is.
To think how different school has to be now, when I was in school to do research for papers we had to go to the library and look things up in books. Now you have so much knowledge at the tip of your fingers. Now only that but because of the Internet we have places like Facebook where you can connect with long lost friends, you can buy anything and everything with a click of a button too! You can buy something like a laptop from www.thesource.ca and a few days later have it arrive to your door step. I’ve even heard in some areas where you can actually order your groceries online and have them delivered to your home! I can’t imagine having someone else do my grocery shopping like that, but if the price was right maybe that would be a great convenience for a Mom who works all day as then she can have another hour or two where she can spend time at home instead of the fun chore of grocery shopping.
I always wonder, what would my Great Grandparents think if they saw the technology we have now a days. Would they be as amazed as I am? Or would they think how lazy we have become as most of our time now is sitting home in front of our computers?
