Social Security

I never knew to much about social security disability, but it’s sure amazing what you can learn when reading up on things.   Did you know that only a small percentage of disabled Americans who apply for SSDI actually qualify?   I guess there are so many people that are applying for it that there is now a huge backlog.  The average wait time is 942 days (close to 3 years) and that was of 2008, so who knows how long it would be this year!   So I guess it is important to make sure you have that next egg even though a 3-6 month emergency  fund couldn’t last that long!

One thing they didn’t teach you

In case there is any soon to be teenagers reading my blog, I thought I would give you a heads up on one thing they don’t teach you in school. They always teach you how you will be getting acne and how you have to always wash your face and such, but they never do tell you that there is also a thing called adult acne.

Believe it or not, when you get old once again your hormones will be changing.  (Or if you are a girl when you get pregnant your hormones can change too)   When that happens, watch out because you just might once again be plagued with acne.

I just made your day didn’t I?

I think I’ll wait…

Why is it when you get gift cards to someplace, you feel like they are burning a hole in your pocket. I have a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com and I feel like going on a little shopping spree, even though deep down I know the responsible thing would be to hold on to them until Christmas time so I could get Katie or Kevin something.

I saw that Amazon books has the book The Love Dare which goes hand and hand with the movie Fireproof. (Another thing I would love to buy) Paul and I saw the movie when it was out at the movie’s and I can honestly say that was one movie that really hit home. If you have never seen it and you are in a relationship, I highly recommend watching it. I’m not sure about your library, but at least with ours you can rent movies for FREE and last week I was able to rent this movie again. Just watching it makes me want to be a better wife for my husband.

Since I know the movie makes me feel this way, I’m thinking the book would help me achieve my goal as they give you a different dare for 40 days. For example, day 1 is to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. That’s it, then the next day they will have you still say nothing negative, but will add to it.

I think I probably will still hold off on buying this book since our library has a copy of it and I have a hold request for it. If I still like it after using their copy, maybe then I’ll go out and buy it. Hopefully though I’ll be able to pick one up cheaper on Craigslist or even better at a garage sale this year!

Stemulite

You always hear about diet pills speeding up your metabolism so you will lose weight, but last night I had heard of product for the first time called Stemulite.  According to the many testimonials, it is an all natural pill that is suppose to help increase Muscle gain and endurance, Weight and fat loss, wellness and energy while also helping you get in a deep REM sleep!

Parts of me thinks maybe this is the pill both Paul and I need as he has a hard time getting in that deep sleep and every night he end’s up taking sleeping pills in hopes of getting a full night sleep.  Plus we both could use the weight loss aspect of it.

I know per the testimonials from pro football players Stemulite really does work, but I just wish I knew for sure it would work with us.

Computers

Even though I have virus catchers on my computers and never open mail from people I don’t know, especially if they have an attachment, but I still worry all the time about getting a virus.  I just wish people had better things to do than make these viruses?  Do they not realize how it can ruin a person’s life if they get one on their computer and it crashes?

The latest I had heard about was the worm one that was suppose to hit on April 1st.  Even though I’ve run my virus catcher a lot lately (just to make sure) and it never found it, I still held my breath most of the day hoping and praying it wasn’t on my computer and I just didn’t know it.

I hadn’t heard of anyone having it on their computers until yesterday when I found out that a lady on my Momma Board’s work actually had it on their computers and their computers crashed so many employee’s couldn’t do anything and got sent home early.

I still wish I knew more about computers and knew what to do in case I got a virus instead of paying the big dollars to have my computer in the repair shop in hopes that they could fix it.  Not only could I fix my own computers and my friends & family members, but maybe I could always find some programmer jobs on the side so I could do from home?

How much do you know about computers?   If your computer crashed, would you be able to fix it?  Or would you have to send it in like I would?

From faucet to sinks.

I know I’ve mentioned on here before about how our kitchen faucet is constantly leaking and my goal for this spring is to get a new faucet so I don’t have to worry about.  I said something to Paul about maybe going shopping for a new faucet and then he said something about how he really doesn’t care for our sink and maybe we should start looking at them too.

So now not only do I have to stress about looking for a new faucet that we like, but maybe also a new sink.  I’m just wondering what kind of sink to get.  I heard that the zero radius sinks are suppose to be nice, but then I keep remembering the sink my sister had at her old house and wondering if I would rather have one like that.  I wish I could find a picture of it online, but so far no luck.  To bad they moved as I would of loved to of seen that sink to make sure that might be something I would be interested in.

Time to start cleaning!

This has to be one of my favorite times of the year… garage sale season!!  Even though my parents have already hit their first garage sale of the year, I have yet to come upon one of those signs.  Once I see one, I’m sure my car will automatically start turning and following the signs.

I not only love going to garage sales, but I also like having them so I can make a little extra money.  I already found out my aunt is has set the date for her garage sale, so at least I know I have a month before I have to have all the stuff I want to sell packed and priced!   I’ve never sent kids clothes up to her house before, but I’m thinking this year I might, just to see how they sell.  I didn’t think my kids had grown that much over the winter, but when I was having the kids try on summer clothes before we went south, I was amazed at how much smaller some of their clothing was.  Then Kevin went to put on a pair of sweatpants he had in his dresser drawer to find out they were way to small.   So needless to say I’ll be going through their dressers & closets really good.   Some of the clothing though I might still hold off sending up to the garage sale (for example Kevin’s tuxedo) as I might be able to sell that one a little bit more on Craigslist instead as it seems like people are always looking for kids tuxedo’s for weddings.

Do you go to garage sales?  If so, is there anything specific you like to look for?  (I like to look for the Vintage Fisher Price House, Barn.. etc)  Or are the one who also has a garage sale in hopes of getting rid of a lot of junk treasures and making a few $’s at the same time?

Vacations

Even though we just got home from vacation last month, I already have the itch to go on another one.  I wonder if it’s because our last two vacations have been so much fun that I can’t wait to go again?  Or is it because when  you are on vacation you usually get to relax and don’t have to worry about the everyday worries back at home?

Maybe I’m getting the itch more due to me finding out my cousin will be leaving for vacation next week and one of my best friends will be leaving the week after!    If I could only sneak in their suitcases.  ;)

Either way going away by ourselves or with some friends and staying in some luxury hotel rooms just sounds wonderful right now.  I don’t know where I would want to be though… at a quiet location where it’s nice and romantic for just Paul and I or someplace closer to places like Disney where we can take the kids and we can play hard.

Either way… going on vacation once again sounds heavenly to me.

Clearance Aisle!

I’m one that is always trying to find a good deal while shopping, so whenever I see that Orange Clearance sign my shopping cart can’t help it, but turn down that aisle to see if they have something I need, but didn’t know it.

Well, awhile ago I was at Meijers and saw that  big orange sign so down the aisle I went.  My sister was always telling me that she loved her flash drive she had as she was able to put a lot of info on it and it still had a lot of room.  So as I was walking down the aisle I saw a whole bunch of them 90% off!  What was really crazy was the person who was re-pricing things thought all of the flash drives were 512MB, but some of them were actually 4GB!  So I was able to get a 4GB flash drive for the price of a 512MB that was 90% off!

I ended up giving them away as gifts, but did keep one for myself.  Now I just have to figure out what to put on it.   Do you have a flash drive?  If so, what do you put on it?

I wish I knew more

Lately I’ve been wishing I would of learned more about computer’s when I was in school. I just wish when I heard terminology like a KVM switches I would have a clue what it is without having to google it to find out it’s not really anything I would need.  (It’s where you can have one keyboard, Mouse, video monitor to run more than one computer at a time)

What I would like to learn the most is how do so simple things like make my own blog designs or have a clue how to change ones to personalize the ones I do have.  I’ve tried to google and learn things like that by myself, but I just can’t seem to follow the directions because I’m so clueless.

How computer savvy are you?
