Our weekend!
Sorry I’ve been absent from the blogging world lately. This weekend was a little on the crazy side and I really haven’t been online much.
Friday, Paul ended up getting a call from work letting him know he could get a LOW (Lack Of Work) and could stay home if he wanted to. (bad thing is you don’t get paid for the day) He of course said yes since his plans were to go fishing the next morning at 4am with a few of his friends. I told him it was ok, but I would be able to go shopping that night by MYSELF!! He agreed!! Then when I was about to start making supper for them so I could leave I ended up getting TERRIBLE gas pains! At first I thought it was heart burn, but found out that it wasn’t that. So needless to say I ended up staying home that night.
Saturday my friend Tammy emailed me wondering what the kids & I were up to. I told her going to Wal-mart as I still needed to get some diapers for Katie from the night before, and she wondered if we would want to go to the Frederik Meijer Garden with her & her daughter to see the butterflies! I thought why not since Paul is gone with his friends and I made enough the night before of Craigslist to pay for the admission. We went and had a GREAT time! (I’ll post pictures later) When we got home Katie took her nap and as I went to go outside to play with Kevin Paul and the guys pulled in. They only caught 2 fish and I guess they didn’t have the best time due to a guy that was on the pier with them. After his friends left Paul got our bikes & trailer out and we ended up going for a bike ride to his parents house. Then when we got back we played outside and I was able to get to Wal-mart finally for those diapers.
Yesterday we went to my parents house for lunch and after Paul left for work and my sister & family left for home I put Katie down for a nap there so my Mom & I could go for a walk. It was a little on the chilly side, but it still felt good! After Katie woke up we played there for a little while longer and then came home. It wasn’t to long after we got home Paul’s Mom called wondering if we wanted company so I said “Come on over”! She came and we were talking when all of a sudden Katie started throwing up all over me, the couch and the carpet. The bad thing was she had RED Jello at lunch so it was all red. Thankfully it pretty much all came out of the carpet, but she did end up throwing up all night so it was a long night for me. Here I was hoping it was a fluke thing, but I would have to say now it’s not. So if you don’t see much from me today or tomorrow.. you will now know why.
Happy Easter!
I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter!! May you have a fun fulfilled day!

Where did my spring go?
I could just cry right now. Our snow was melting, I was able to see my mailbox again and what did Mother Nature do to us today? She decided we need more snow and it ended up snowing all day yesterday and you should see it out there!! It’s crazy! Here Paul had already put the shovel’s away, but by peaking out the window this morning we have to get them back out. On the news last night they said how many inches the towns to the west & east of us go and Holland, MI was at 10 inches and if I remember Grand Rapids at that point was at 6 inches!!
I JUST WANT MY SPRING BACK!!!!!!
It was a good weekend!
Yesterday we didn’t do much during the day, but after Paul got home from work we went over to my Grandparents house. The family was having a good-bye party for my cousin Jake who joined the army and will be leaving for boot camp this Thursday. Plus they were starting to clean out the house after Grandma & Grandpa died this past fall/winter. I was afraid it would feel weird going there since it’s the first time I’ve been there since they both died. (besides going there between my Grandma’s visitations) Thankfully it didn’t, of course it probably helped that half of our family was there. It felt good to hear all the laughter in the house again since the last time we were all together there was a sad day.
Today we went to my parents house for lunch. (we do it every Sunday) A lot of times I’ll stay most of the day as Paul leaves for work from there and I feel like why go back home to an empty house when I can stay and chat with my parents and the kids can play with different toys.
Today was like no other, except it’s so nice outside!! (a little chilly.. but at least it’s sunny!) Before we left I thought maybe I would be able to talk my Mom into walking around the lake they live by, so I wore my New Balance shoes instead of my slip ons. I’m glad I did because I ended up asking my Mom after lunch if she wanted to go for a walk and she said YES! WOOHOO!! It was a little chilly with the wind so we were both glad we wore our winter coats, but having the sun shining on our faces felt so good. Hopefully I’ll be able to talk my Mom into walking again on Sundays because not only is it good excercise, but it’s nice having that one on one time with her.
So how was your weekend? Did you have a good one as well?
Cute Saturday
I was busy cleaning out our closest again today since Paul says we have to much “stuff” and I ended up coming across our wedding video, so we went sat down as a family and watched it. (Hard to believe it’s almost been 7 yrs already!)
After watching it I thought I would tackle Katie’s closet and came across a flower girls dress (size 4.. she is a size 2) that I had bought at a garage sale last summer for her to play dress up in some day. I then remembered that I have the tux that my nephew wore in our wedding (he was the same age Kevin is now) so I pulled that out too and we played dress up.
Here are some pictures of our little bride & groom.
Pumpkin Carving with the kids
Today was the day we decided to carve our pumpkins! Paul and I decided to have a contest to see who could do the coolest one. I’m kinda thinking he might of won.. but don’t tell him.
After searching online for a pattern Kevin FINALLY decided on a spider. (He knows how Grandma C just loves spiders. LOL) Here are the pictures of Kevin doing his pumpkin and an end result.
Next are the pictures of Paul and Katie doing their pumpkin. Even though Katie had picked the pumpkin out, Paul picked out the pattern (a skull) this year as Katie really didn’t care.
My weekend
My weekend so far has been ok.. yesterday Paul went deer hunting in the morning and then in the afternoon we drove out to Gerald R Ford International Airport to watch the planes land and take off. The kids always have fun watching them. It’s funny how Katie can spot a plane way up high in the air at home, but is clueless when they are coming in for a landing.
After the airport the kids & I went to the Grand Opening of the Family Fare in Allendale. (They built a new store and moved 1 mile from their old location) It was just crazy there.. it was so busy it was hard to find a parking spot. I lucked out I ended up getting a really good one, plus there was a shopping cart parked right next to it! Yahoo for me! They were having some great deals there… .99 per pumpkin (to bad we already bought ours) .99 for Chip Deluxe cookies (one of Paul’s favorites) .99 for Lay’s Potato Chips, .99 for Jiff Peanut Butter, .99 for Kraft Cheese Chunks.. etc. We walked out of there $45 later and ended up getting a .25 off per gallon coupon for their gas station! How great is that with the gas prices going so high! I now know when I have to go to Family Fare for something I’ll be going to the Allendale location so I can get my gas coupons since the Hudsonville ones don’t do that. (They are about the same distance away)
This weekend I also posted some items on Craigslist and already got two responses back of people wanting to buy my stuff!! WOOHOO!! It sure makes me want to clean house and post more stuff.
What I’ve decided is the $ I make from now until Feb on Craigslist will be put towards out Disney fund. (We are taking the kids there in Feb as part of their Christmas present) I ended up looking for vacation rentals on Orlando’s Craigslist and found a Villa I’m kinda interested in. What’s nice about it is that it has it’s own private swimming pool, but it’s $50-70 more than another one I found without a swimming pool. Is it worth $50-70 to have a private swimming pool?!? (The great thing is the heat for the pool is already included in the price.. usually it’s not) So what would you do? Spend the extra for the slash pool? (It’s a perfect size for Kevin & Katie) I know for sure they would use it the 1st day we got there as we won’t be doing Disney till the next day. Plus I’m thinking of maybe staying 4 nights there instead of 3 and just going down to visit Paul’s folks for the day?!? Not 100% sure on that… Decisions.. decisions
