Kevin likes mustard and honey so while getting chicken tenders at Texas Roadhouse this weekend I ended up getting him honey mustard to see if he would like that.  (Usually he gets sweet & sour)   Later on that night when he was having his left overs for supper he informed me that he really liked the sauce at the restaurant, since we didn’t bring any of that home I ended up trying to make my own (which he didn’t like) so I went to good ol’ allrecipes.com and found a recipe there that he did like and can see making it for him quite often. 

Honey Mustard Dressing

Ingredients

• 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon mayonnaise
• 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
• 1 teaspoon honey
• 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions

1. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, honey, and lemon juice. Store covered in the refrigerator.

Have I told you how much I like facebook?  I know a lot of people don’t care for it, but I love how it can keep me connected to a lot of my friends and family members.  (No, none of them write things like “I have to go poop”, but interesting things)   I just found out today that my friend ended up winning tickets to see Bret Michaels in concert!   Just think how much fun that’s going to be.  I loved though how one of her friend’s who also has tickets wrote something about they better start practicing on how to rat their hair again so it can stand up tall. 

I can’t help but think, if I could win some tickets I would love to win Taylor Swift tickets!    I can’t think of one of her songs I don’t like, but the one I think I like the best would have to be her song You Belong To Me due to every time Katie hears it on the radio she will yell “That’s my song” and come running and start dancing.   The reason she says that’s my song is because she overheard me saying that I could see Katie being the girl in the song…  the girl who all guys like as a friend, but don’t think of as a girlfriend.    (which of course would be ok with me)   I just can’t imagine if I would take her to a Taylor Swift concert what she would do if that song came on!  LOL   I can promise everyone by us would start dancing the “Katie dance”!

You know the economy must be bad when your insurance agent who you used to have everything (House, 3 cars, boat) with and now you only have 1 thing with (boat) sends you letter in the mail asking if you if you know of any car, house or life insurance leads.   Even if we did have someone ask us who we have for our insurance companies I can promise you it wouldn’t of been this insurance company as their rates were at least twice the price of our current agent.  I know shouldn’t be your number one reason to switch companies, but it was and we ended up lucking out because when we ended up making a claim a couple years ago due to the water damage in our kitchen they were wonderful to work with and that’s why we are still with them.

In case you want to save some money on your insurance ask around and see who your friends and family has.  But what’s really important to also ask if is they have ever made a claim and how the insurance company handled it.  It’s not worth going somewhere cheaper if you have to fight every claim you make.

While looking for a Sunday Meme to do.. I ended up coming across Straight Out Of the Camera from Murrieta 365. It’s actually quite fun because it’s another picture meme where you can show off what pictures you have taken. The only thing is you can’t do any tweaking or altering, but that’s ok with me as I usually don’t do that anyways.

This weeks picture is of the moon.  I went outside on the 24th to make sure our truck was locked up and decided since it was a full moon to take a picture (or 4) to see how the zoom worked on my new camera.  Here is it zoomed all the way up and then the 2nd picture will be after I cropped it.

Now on to my question of the week:

This weekend we will now be in the month of August, therefor school will be starting soon.  Are you ready for your kids to be back in school?

While I like having the kids home with me, I’m so ready for them to also be back in school so I don’t have to hear the fighting day in and day out.  Of course I bet come September and Kevin is in school full time this year, I’ll be wishing it was summer vacation again.  It’s going to be different having him go every day… no more having day trips during the week anymore.   

I don’t know how the weather is in your part of the woods, but here in west Michigan it’s been quite hot & humid.   Due to the heat not only has the ac been running non-stop, but I’ve been trying to keep something nice and cold in the freezer for the kids to snack on.  We have some frozen blueberries, Popsicles and just last week we were lucky to try a new ice cream (at least for us) to try and cool us down.

Once I walked in from the grocery store with the box of Breyers Smooth & Dreamy tripple chocolate chip bars in hand, my kids (and husband) couldn’t wait to try it!   After listening to all three of them begging to try one I ended up caving and with in seconds I could hear the box rip open and then Kevin quick getting the scissors to open up his & Katie’s. 

Then it happened, the house got nice and quiet.  Had I of had a pin in my hand, I think I could of heard it drop.   I looked at the kids and asked them how they liked it and they (along with Dad) gave it a thumbs up.  Kevin was kind enough (I think honestly it was brown nosing as he knew there were 3 more in the box) to let me have a nibble or two so I could at least blog about what I thought.

 I know every person is different, but for me it was a little to much chocolate so I would for sure label this one as an ice cream to buy for chocolate lovers everywhere!  While I could of chose a different flavor of Breyers ice cream to try I knew that my family (Especially Paul) would like this one the best so that’s why I went with the Triple Chocolate Chip.  When the box says extra creamy, I can tell you that the box didn’t lie as the ice cream was rich & creamy.  To me, that can be a good thing because when I buy the store brand ice cream bars as soon as the kids finish their first ice cream bar they are already begging for a second one.   With the Breyers Smooth & Dreamy it left the kids very satisfied where I didn’t have to hear them begging for another one right away.

By looking at this picture you can tell that Katie very much enjoyed her ice cream, but both kids ended up having 1 problem comparing these to the store brand ice cream bars.  Their problem was that there was only 6 in a box!!   What Mom & Dad liked about it though was they were a great bargining tool.. if they wanted a 2nd one, then they had to use their legs at swim lessons.  If they did, they would get one of the last 2 bars, if not.. Mom & Dad got them.   Needless to say the kids ended up getting the last two bars the next day.

Kevin and I had a fun day today as we were able to go to a ceremony to watch his Karate instructor earn his 7th degree black belt today! I don’t know to much about karate yet except for punching, kicking, and their a couple of the forms, but I do know that earning a belt like that is a big deal! So I wanted to make a shout out a CONGRATULATIONS to Master Rick and let him know how proud and honored Kevin is to be his student.
